Choice Words party game review

Choice Words party game
Choice Words is a fun family party game.
The recent holidays have been great for get-togethers with family and friends. It’s always fun to hang out, relax, and catch up with each other.

It’s also a great time for pulling out party games.

One of the new party games we enjoyed playing over the holidays was Choice Words by MindWare.

Everyone in our family gives it a high rating.

But since Jaden gives it the highest rating among us, he wanted to do the video review for Choice Words – showing how to play and telling why he likes the game so much.

Can everyone in the family enjoy Choice Words?

Choice Words is a very simple game that’s super easy to play and can be enjoyed by most everyone in the family.

The age recommendation on the game box is 10+. Our guess is because kids younger than 10 won’t be familiar with as many words and phrases. So they’ll may feel left in the dust.

How well can you choose the most popular word or phrase?
After all, how many 7 year olds will know words or phrases with “stock” in them?

But – feel free to let younger kids join in if they want to give it a go.

Most of the words in the game are very common words and you could simply play that if a harder word is chosen, skip it and pick another.

We’ve also found that younger kids seem to enjoy the Match Play cards because they aren’t about racing for quantity of words or phrases. Instead, those cards are about writing the word or phrase that Most people will write down.

For example, like Jaden mentioned in his video review, if the card shows “Tooth _____” the most common phrase among younger kids may be “Tooth Fairy”. So he’d write that one down hoping to score more points by making the match.

How many words or phrases can you come up with?
Multiple ways to play
One of the things we like most about Choice Words as a party game is the option each player has to choose Match Play or Scratch Play on their turn.

Each player can pick the type of play that they prefer.

So if you think you’re more likely to come up with the most phrases from a word, choose Scratch Play and try to stump everyone else with your plethora of phrases.

On the other hand, if you’d rather discover who’s on the same wavelength, choose a Match Play card and write the single answer that most everyone else will also write down.

Give it a try right now – check out the photos of the Match Play and Scratch Play samples and see how you’d do.

How many different words or phrases can you come up with that have “GOLDEN” in them?

Or what words would you think are most common for:
“PARKING _____”, “_____ EVER”, and “_____ SET”?

(I’d probably write Parking Space, Forever, and Swing Set.)

And which would you prefer to play?

How does Choice Words score on our “Let’s Play Again” game meter?
Choice Words is a fun party game that’s great for family game night. It’s so easy to pull out and start playing immediately. It’s also a party game that’s easy to say, “just one more”. And for that, it scores high on our “let’s play again” game meter.

Choice Words party gameIt doesn’t matter if the rules say that for 5-6 players you should play to 50 points. Play to as many points as you’d like.

Or instead of a point total, play until everyone has had X number of times to choose a card, then see who has the most points. Or play for a set amount of time.

Pull it out at the end of the day and just play for 15 minutes before bedtime. You choose.

Either way, Choice Words will definitely be played repeatedly.

Thanks MindWare for a fun family party game.
