Creative Fun with Say Anything Family Edition

Say Anything Box
Great fun for all families!

The publishers of the great family game Wits & Wagers Family are at it again with another fantastic family board game in their game lineup – Say Anything Family Edition.

Like North Star Games did with Wits & Wagers Family, they took a great game that they had made previously and changed it up a little to appeal to families who want to play games with their kids. And we say – “Fantastic!” It’s not that the original Say Anything couldn’t be played with families (we do), but kids can relate so much more to the questions in this version of the game.

So what’s Say Anything Family all about?

Well, Brooke’s here to tell you in her short video review.

Can the whole family enjoy Say Anything Family?

If your kids can read and write, then they’ll be able to join in the fun. And as far as the adults go, it’s great fun for them as well. We play Say Anything Family with adults only too and have a great time as well. As far as the adults go, we’re fine with either Say Anything or Say Anything Family. But to tell you the truth, I still like the questions in the family edition better even when playing just with adults.

Say Anything vs. Say Anything Family?

Colorful game boards for family fun.

So if the game play is the same in both instances, which game should you choose – Say Anything or Say Anything Family?

We think it depends on what you’re after. If you know you’re only going to be playing the game with adults, then you might want to pick up the original Say Anything. For starters, the original game allows for up to 8 players to play while Say Anything Family only allows up to 6. For us that works out fine because we have 6 in our family.

But the biggest difference comes in the questions. The original Say Anything comes with 80 cards with 5 questions on each card that you can choose from when it’s your turn – for a total of 400 questions. Say Anything Family comes with only 60 cards. But they are double-sided and have 3 questions on each side making a total of 360 questions. Either way, it’s going to take a super long time to try out all the questions. And when you do cycle back, you’ll most likely have different players so the answers won’t be the same anyway.

We like the way they did the cards in the family edition for a couple reasons. First, the font size is larger so it’s easier for kids to read. Second, with only 3 questions to look at on each side there is less to choose from on which question to pick which makes it a simpler decision for kids to process as well.

Here are some examples so you can get a taste for the differences in the questions:
Original:

  • Who would be the least inspiring motivational speaker?
  • What’s the best fashion trend of all time?
  • What movie is required viewing for all geeks?
  • What would be the dumbest thing to say to your new mother-in-law?
  • What’s the best karaoke song of all time?
Say Anything Cards
Tons of great questions to get your mind clicking.

Family Edition:

  • What two breakfast cereals would taste the best if mixed together?
  • What would be the worst thing to put on a peanut butter & jelly sandwich?
  • What would be the coolest thing to have in my backyard?
  • What’s the most useless thing kids learn in school?
  • What’s the most important invention of all time?

In the end, it will come down to who you’ll be playing with. Although we have both, we know we’ll pull out the family edition a lot more than the original.

How are the game components in Say Anything Family?

All of the game pieces are very durable and that’s good because we know we’ll be playing this game for a long time. We love the dry erase boards that they put in their games which are perfect for games of this type where you’re always writing your answers. Of course, you’ll have to supply your own tissues or paper towels to erase the answers each round, but we think you can handle that just fine.

How does Say Anything Family score on the “Let’s Play Again” meter?
Say Anything Family party game

Say Anything Family scores very high on our “Let’s Play Again” game meter. It’s such a simple game to pull out and play and there aren’t a ton of rules that you have to refresh your memory on.

And when one game ends, it’s so easy to just erase the score track and keep on rolling through the questions and making up crazy answers.

Thanks North Star Games for another fantastic family board game!

P.S. The original Say Anything is going to be sold at Toys-R-Us and Target starting in August!

  • Trent,

Awesome review! I want to make one clarification, which is probably my fault. Say Anything Family will not be at Toys-r-Us this fall. Regular Say Anything will be (as well as Target), but not the Family Edition.

You will have to go to your friendly local game store or online to buy Say Anything Family Edition.

    Sorry for any mix-up!

    Cheers,
