Cloud City Board Game Review

Cloud City, a board game from Blue Orange Games, should not be confused for a Tibanna gas mining colony floating in the clouds of the planet Bespin run by a smuggler named Lando.

Although that might make a really cool game…

In the game, 2 to 4 players ages 10 and up, take on the roll of architects vying to win city council votes to become the best city planner. They will zone land, build skyscrapers that reach the clouds, and connect them with spectacular walkways high above the ground. The player to do this the best wins.

Planet, by Blue Orange Games, has players crafting their own 3D planet to attract a variety of animals to them. It’s a unique tile-laying game where the tiles are magnetic continents consisting of various habitats.

Different animals are attracted to different types of habitats so players have to choose wisely in which animals they want to inhabit their planets.

Build your kingdom with dice in Kingdomino Duel

Two years ago we reviewed a terrific family board game called Kingdomino by Blue Orange Games.

Later that year, we reviewed a derivative game called Queendomino that’s also a lot of fun. It was the same game at the core but with a handful of new elements mixed in.

Then last year we reviewed an expansion for both games called Kingdomino: Age of Giants.

So it shouldn’t come of a surprise that when Blue Orange Games published a 2-player iteration of the game that revolves around dice, called Kingdomino Duel, we were chomping at the bit to give it a try!

And it’s time to tell you all about it!

Kingdomino: Age of Giants board game review

Suppose you’re relaxing in your castle or exploring the beauty of your kingdom (minding your own kingly business) when all of a sudden, a huge giant stomps through your field. Would you be scared, upset, or angry?

Would it make a difference if you knew that giant wandered into your kingdom because your rival kingdom sent him your way? I bet you’d start looking for ways to send him right back!

Thats just the way it goes in Kingdomino: Age of Giants – an expansion game for either Kingdomino or Queendomino.

Photosynthesis is more than just pretty trees

If you know someone who thinks board games are as fun as watching trees grow, how about challenging them to a new board game where you watch trees grow!

Ha – wouldn’t that be fun!

Board games come in all shapes and sizes and cover an unending array of themes. So having a game about growing trees isn’t really too surprising. But making such a game good is another matter.
