Do you have a bin of white elephant gifts in your home?

We do. It’s the basket we turn to when the holidays roll around and we’re invited to a white elephant gift exchange. Some years, we end up a few different parties with these types of gift exchanges. So many years ago we created our “White Elephant Box” and whenever we get something that just seems odd, we toss it in the box. That way, we have an easy resource to turn to when it’s time for a party.

Like North Star Games did with Wits & Wagers Family, they took a great game that they had made previously and changed it up a little to appeal to families who want to play games with their kids. And we say – “Fantastic!”

Memoir ‘44 – Our finest hour

Memoir ’44 is the first “war game” that we’ve ever played. As we’ve seen many war type board games in the past, none have really called out to us to give them a try. We just haven’t been interested in the genre. I can’t really put my finger on it, but they were just games we’d pass by. And maybe you’re thinking the same thing.

“They look complicated.”
“They look like they’ll take a long time to play.”
“They look boring.”

Well, guess what? With Memoir ’44 that isn’t the case at all.
It’s very simple to play, can be played in 30 minutes, and is a lot of fun.
