Uncles Games – Great board game store

While I was in Seattle last week, playing Games with Hayden wasn’t the only time I spent around board games. It just so happened that there was a great game store within a block of my hotel in Redmond – Uncles Games.

I first became familiar with Uncles Games when we developed our family board game site in 2009. Around that time we were checking out numerous online stores that sold board games and card games and we can across Unclesgames.com.

If you were traveling through a city far from home, would you consider stopping to play games with strangers in their home?

I’m not talking about playing online games or video games through internet connections. And I’m not talking about going to a board game convention and playing with others at the convention that you’ve just met. I’m talking about pulling up a chair and playing face-to-face board games in someone’s home that you’ve never been to.

White Elephant – The Card Game

Do you have a bin of white elephant gifts in your home?

We do. It’s the basket we turn to when the holidays roll around and we’re invited to a white elephant gift exchange. Some years, we end up a few different parties with these types of gift exchanges. So many years ago we created our “White Elephant Box” and whenever we get something that just seems odd, we toss it in the box. That way, we have an easy resource to turn to when it’s time for a party.

S.O.S. I’m Stranded

Dear Diary,

Today… Well today was rather depressing. But let me start at the beginning…

It was all a vacation. The most elegant island in the world! That’s what it said on all of the brochures, that’s what all my friends back at home (safe, I must add) said, and most importantly, that’s what our late captain said. So I thought, What the heck?! And foolishly, I signed the contract to get away for three weeks (which was essentially signing away my life, I later realized) . . . (A little too late I might add).
