Magic: the Gathering – Grandaddy of CCG

It’s hard to get around in the gaming world without hearing about Magic: the Gathering. It seems to be everywhere. Board game hobby stores worldwide have weekly Magic: the Gathering nights (or multiple nights). And Magic tournaments are held all over the world as well.

With the extreme popularity of the game, you’d think we would have tried it out by now. However, our family has yet to play Magic.

Relic Expedition – Preview of “Awesome” game

According to our 10 year old son, Caleb, Relic Expedition is “awesome!”

We had a chance to play a prototype of the board game Relic Expedition this week and Caleb loved it. Getting a prototype of a board game is something we typically don’t do. There are so many great board games and card games already on the market, that we typically turn down opportunities to play games in the making.

But there was something about Relic Expedition that seemed like it might be a great family board game that we’d enjoy. So I decided to give it a try.

Time is Ticking

Boy, kids sure grow up fast.

Any parent can attest to this fact.
One day they’re learning to crawl and before you know it they’re leaving home.

We know it’s been sneaking up on us, but this year our oldest son, Trevor, turns 18. Next year will be his senior year of high school and then he’ll head off into the world.

Pentago Multiplayer – Twisting fun for more

Taking a fun 2-player abstract strategy board game and turning it into a similarly fun abstract strategy board game for more players can be difficult. But the folks at Mindtwister managed to make it work well with Pentago Multiplayer.
