We’ll be building homes in Mexico!

In the coming months our family is taking part in humanitarian efforts in Mexico. We have the opportunity to go to Mexico to help build houses with the organization Builders Without Borders.
We’ve considered this for the last few years and are excited to finally be a part of these great efforts!
While working in Mexico we’ll be building 5 to 6 new homes, repairing roofs, walls, and floors of several other families, doing several Boy Scout Eagle projects, distributing food to families in need and teaching skills like hair cutting and sewing. The group will also be taking trailers filled with donations such as cookware, fabrics, warm coats, yarn, sewing machines, and bicycles (even if they need repairs).

They have a great video on the Builders Without Borders website that gives an idea what it’s all about.
Not only will we be taking part in such a great service, but as parents we feel that this will give our kids a unique experience with those less fortunate. So many times we take our situation for granted. We look forward to both what our family will give in service as well as how we’ll grow.
As part of the project we’re also seeking donations to help fund these projects. Every little bit adds up.

Participants cover their own expenses so that 100% of each additional donation goes to charitable service and is tax deductible.
That means we’re covering the participation fees for our family and any additional amount goes directly to the supplies and goods.
