But wait, there’s more!

It also NEVER NEEDS SHARPENING!

If that sounds like a crazy combo you’d like trying to pitch in 30 seconds, But Wait, There’s More! is the game for you.

Check out Jaden’s video review of this fun new party game: But Wait, There’s More!

Can the whole family enjoy But Wait, There’s More?

As you can imagine from watching Jaden’s video review, But Wait, There’s More! isn’t a party game that everyone will enjoy.

The products may seem common to you, but wait, there’s more!
Overall we think it’s a great party game that families will enjoy playing together. But we’ll also admit that it’s not one that everyone will find appealing.

As mom will quickly attest to – since it’s not her cup of tea either.

She doesn’t like games with the pressure to think of something creative on the spot and to have to pitch/sell the idea to others. She’s not a fan.

But Jaden on the other hand, absolutely loves it!

He loves coming up with creative ways of pitching products and then midstream being dealt another feature that he has to seamlessly combine in his pitch.

And since the game is built on quick thinking and sales pitching, we don’t imagine But Wait, There’s More! will appeal to families with young kids. It’s better suited for teens and adults.

Although, Caleb also gets a kick out of coming up with great sales pitches as well.

Similar to, but Different from, Snake Oil

When we heard about how to play But Wait, There’s More! our first thoughts turned to another sales pitching party game that we (many of us) enjoy – Snake Oil.

But Wait, There's More party game
There are plenty of Features to make your product unique.
Why? Because in Snake Oil players are also trying to sell crazy products to the other players.

However, even though they’re similar, there are enough differences in the game play to warrant us keeping and enjoying both games.

Each round of Snake Oil consists of one player taking on the role of a random customer identity like an Insomniac, Politician, or Santa, and the other players choosing from the word cards they’re dealt to create a two-word product that they’ll pitch that customer. Then, in turn, each player makes their sales pitch. After all the pitches, the customer picks the product they were most convinced to purchase and that player gets a point.

How are you feeling about buying that suitcase now?
By contrast, in But Wait, There’s More! there isn’t a customer at all and all players are pitching the same product – be it a golf club, a shovel, or a magnifying glass. However, each player has a number of Feature cards that make their product unique. And it’s their job to pitch the product with that feature.

While that alone can be funny, the big laugh comes in the middle of the sales pitch when the player needs to exclaim, “But wait, there’s more” after which they turn over a random Feature card and need to weave that feature into their product pitch. It can be pretty funny for sure.

The scoring is also different. Rather than one player getting a point each round, every player will get points/votes from all the other players. Every player has points/votes to distribute to the other players. They do so with the point value being hidden until the end of the game.

After 3 rounds, everyone totals up their points to see who wins.

Like many party games, who wins isn’t really that important in the end. The fun and hilarity is found in the playing.

It’s great to see that a simple concept of pitching a product can have the unique twist it does in But Wait, There’s More!

But Wait There's More party game

How does But Wait, There’s More! score on our “Let’s Play Again” game meter?

Like we mentioned before, But Wait, There’s More! isn’t a game that everyone in our family enjoys. So while it may not be a game that mom is interested in playing repeatedly, it is a game that others of us like playing multiple games in a row.

It’s also a game that’s very easy to pull out and explain to new players when having a game night with friends.

Thanks Toy Vault for a fun party game in But Wait, There’s More!

Now about that suitcase that never needs sharpening…
