TRAGEDY! Village Mourns For Loss Of Hero; Ghost Slain?

Last night, in a tragic turn of events, Barrowsdale lost one of its greatest heroes.

After being threatened constantly by a ghost seen around Barrowsdale, the villagers began to cower. Fortunately, a beloved hero from the village, (Chalice Paladin, the village’s only cleric) announced publicly, “I ain’t afraid of no ghost!” And shortly thereafter marched into Grimhold Dungeon to vanquish this unwelcome foe.

Alone.

Unfortunately, his reckless courage didn’t matter. Barrowsdale’s Trainer claims to have been the last one to have seen Chalice before he had so bravely ventured down into Grimhold Dungeon in search of the village’s rightful heirloom, the Thunderstone.

“Well,” says the village trainer. “He came to me the day before he wanted to venture down into the dungeon. Of course I was willing to help! I mean, anything for our precious Thunderstone!” The trainer paused a moment to regain composure, then continued. “But anyway, he said that he needed to level up, and fast! Because at the time he was only level two, and he realized that he needed to be at least level three to defeat this ghost…” At this moment the trainer trailed off and then burst into tears, and we couldn’t get anything more out of her besides little blips like, “my best student!” Or, “he was so cute!”

We have come to understand that the main reason for poor Chalice’s downfall was his pride. Or his light problem. Probably both. Chalice that night, unfortunately, despite his plethora of militia he had in his deck, was the only hero who showed up to slay the ghost. And the only weapon that he could get his hands on was a 3 1/2″ dagger. And he had no light. But! Despite all of this, Chalice was determined, going by his saying only a few hours prior to his downfall,

“I ain’t afraid of no ghost!”

And so, the village watched as he disappeared into the dungeon, without even turning to wave goodbye, because he figured that he would be coming back! Unfortunately, he was wrong. Just like most heroes with pride problems. Nobody knows what happened in the dungeon, but sightings of the ghost have ceased, just as sightings of Chalice have as well. The villagers hope and pray that the Thunderstone resurfaces from the dungeon soon.
