Duck! Duck! Go! – Bathtub racing at its finest

Duck, Duck, Go! board game
Ducky racing without the bathtub.
Ok, so maybe you aren’t really sitting in the bathtub racing rubber duckies. But in Duck! Duck! Go! you really are racing rubber duckies.

The board tiles that you lay out to set up the game also give a pretty good bathtub feel. And because you can set the game up however you want, you can make some pretty creative bathtubs to navigate for your rubber ducky racing.

Duck! Duck! Go! made the Games Magazine Games 100 list and has also been nominated for an Origins Award for Best Family Game! Check out what Brooke thinks of Duck! Duck! Go! in her video review.

Can the whole family enjoy Duck! Duck! Go!?

Cards tell you which way to go.
Yes, they can. Although the suggested age on the box states 8+, you’ll have a hard time telling younger siblings that they can’t play a game with rubber ducks in it. So let them join in the fun too. Of course, they may need a little help.

As you can see in the video, the cards that you play to move your duck are pretty descriptive in how the duck moves. However, that doesn’t mean that they won’t cause confusion for younger players. As Brooke shows, it really helps to lay the card right next to the duck on the game board to make sure it’s moving in the right direction. So let the younger kids play too, but be prepared to help them along the way.

Cool rubber duckies to play with.
Will older kids enjoy it too?
While rubber ducky racing may seem like a game just for little kids, don’t be fooled. Dad has been challenged to many games by our 12 year old. Of course dad keeps winning, so the challenges kept coming. Most of the games are close, but they’re all fun. How cool are those ducks?

The ducks rock! And there sure are bunch to choose from. While each game only comes with 4 ducks, plus a bird dog, you can still go online and order more ducks for your collection.

Maybe the hardest part of buying the game is just choosing what ducks you would like to go along with it. (We’re kind of partial to the ninja and the fairy tales.) You can check out all the available duckies on the APE Games website here.

How does Duck! Duck! Go! score on the “Let’s Play Again” meter?
Duck! Duck! Go! is another board game that we play a number of times in a row. Typically that’s because someone wants a rematch. Or they want to try a different layout of the board to create a new challenge. So there’s plenty of “let’s play that again” going around. Thanks APE Games for a great family board game!

P.S. We’re not done with the ducks. APE Games came out with a new board game called Duck! Duck! Safari! that we’ve been playing too and will be getting to the review shortly. So stay tuned for more duck racing fun.
